Last updated September 17th, 2019 at 1531 UTC+0200 Is my Galaxy S8 or Galaxy Note 8 going to be updated to Android 10? That’s a question many have been asking in the last couple of months, and with Google recently releasing the Android 10 update for its Pixel devices, interest in the newest version of the OS has increased further. While Samsung will update plenty of phones to Android 10, the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy Note 8 are not going to be among them. No Android 10 update for the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy Note 8 The reason is simple Samsung has always offered only two major upgrades for its flagship devices. The company also provides the same number of major upgrades to mid-range and budget devices as well, and while it’s unfortunate that Samsung doesn’t make a distinction between flagship phones and lower-end devices, it is what it is. The Galaxy S8, S8+, and Galaxy Note 8 were launched with Android Nougat out of the box and were subsequently updated to Android Oreo and Android Pie, so they have already received the updates they were eligible for. In short, Galaxy S8, Galaxy S8+, and Galaxy Note 8 users are going to have to make do with Android Pie on their phones and will need to buy a newer Galaxy smartphone — like a Galaxy S9, Note 9, Galaxy S10, or Galaxy Note 10 — to take advantage of Android 10 and version of Samsung’s One UI interface, which will accompany the Android 10 update. Even if Samsung changes its mind and decides to offer a third major upgrade for its flagship phones, the company is unlikely to apply the updated policy to its 2017 Galaxy S and Note flagships. Are you rocking a Galaxy S8, S8+ or Galaxy Note 8? Would Android 10 be a reason you would upgrade to a newer phone, or are you content with the features you are able to take advantage of on Android Pie?
Options Mark as New Bookmark Subscribe Subscribe to RSS Feed Permalink Print Report Inappropriate Content Why Samsung you are not updating Galaxy Note 8, its a powerful device, can easily run android 10 update. It was launched in August, 2017 when the android 8 update was near and who purchased this device in January or later got oreo out of the box since then you have provided only one update pie update. Just because you're not updating Note8, many Note8 users would go for other brands like Apple and Google who update their older devices. In my opinion you should update your devices too. Please read carefully what he has stated that the note 8 devices which were launched after the release of Android 8 got this update out of technically he was saying that the user which has gotten oreo out of the box should get the Android 10 update because they have only gotten one update Android I cleared him that it will count 2 OS updates whether it was released with oreo or nougat out of box. And before replying anything please read the OP carefully. Peace. Samsung is very clever while launching their note series they release their note series just before the next android update so that they can update their devices to upcoming android and has to give just one more update. On the other hand S series launches near February & March and has latest android update. Like S11/20 is coming and it will have Android 10 and will have 2 major updates while note series launches in September/October when new android update is around the corner. Samsung must give atleast 3 updates for their Note series and if they do so Note users would be happy.
